Olympic Sports Advocates Receive Warm Reception at Assembly Higher Education Committee

As was made starkley evident at Friday’s Board of Governors meeting, the eliminated Olympic sports at Rutgers are in their eleventh hour.  The governors and President McCormick gave no indication that the university plans to reverse its decision.  Make no mistake, if you have any stake in this fight, THE TIME IS NOW!

The Assembly Higher Education Committee will hold a special hearing–Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 10:00am–to address Rutgers’ elimination of Lightweight & Heavyweight Crew, Swimming, Tennis and Men’s and Women’s Fencing.

The hearing will be held in Room 15 of the State House Annex, Fourth Floor, Trenton, NJ.  All are strongly encouraged to testify — especially the athletes and their parents.  This a unique opportunity to speak to the legislative decision makers who directly influence the course of Rutgers University.  To get on the speakers list, contact the Chair of the Higher Education Committee, Assemblyman Patrick J. Diegnan, Jr. , through his Chief of Staff, Addie Levine at (908) 757-1677.
